Description

Level 2

The level 2 course is the next step, setting out the foundations of sailing for you, sailing ability along with theoretical knowledge is assumed to be up to level 1 standard. The course consists of rigging a dinghy with minimal help, understanding how to launch a boat in different wind directions, and learning standard sailing manoeuvres. The course also covers essential safety knowledge to be used when sailing. Once level 2 has been achieved the sailor will be able to sail and make decisions on and off the water in good conditions.

If you have your own wet gear such as a buoyancy aid or wetsuit, we recommend you wear this as you know it fits and is comfortable. Suitable footwear is required to be worn while on the course, this could be wetsuit boots, wet shoes or old trainers. We do not allow flip flops and we do not recommend crocs.

If you don’t have your own kit, we can provide equipment for you whilst on your sailing course, this can include wetsuits, spray tops and buoyancy aids. We do not provide footwear.

Even if the weather is overcast, we would recommend wearing sun cream, on hot & sunny days a sun hat & sunglasses is a good idea. Water bottles can be taken out to stay hydrated & there is a free water filling station on the dinghy park

The next step after achieving level 2 is working towards level 3, which aims to enhance and develop previously learnt sailing techniques with a range of tasters from the advanced modules.
